February Classes

 

Intermediate Loom Weaving taught by Ron Midkiff

Learn to increase and decrease your beaded loom projects. Class will be on February 28, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Pre-requisite - must have had the intro to bead weaving on the loom.

Students need to bring their looms, beading pad, clamps, Fireline. I will provide three colors of seed beads and one size 12 needle.

Class Fee - $42.00
Supply Fee - $10.00

March Classes

"Drawing in Pen and Ink" taught by Colleen Sterling

Thursday and Friday
March 8 & 9, 2012
March 15 & 16, 2012

10:00 a.m. to Noon

Participants will learn how to achieve a full range of values for rendering volume using a variety of mark-making in ink. And an introduction to various pen and ink products and their history.

Class Fee - $75.00

Students should bring to class - Permanent Ink pens, such as Faber Castell brand "Pitt artist pens", or Sakura brand "Pigma Micron pens"

Drawing and Sketching for Fun
taught by Julie Sibley

Friday's March 9th - 30th (4 classes)

12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Drawing is an activity that can improve memory and concentration as well as provide the training for design and composition skills in other art forms. Drawing is a way to record the life around you and give you the techniques to enhance your artistic ideas. In this class we will cover different subject matter every week to see shapes and their relationships, learn more of the use of the pencil, and how artist's create the illusion of form and etc!

Creative Acrylic Painting
taught by Julie Sibley

Friday's March 9th - 30th (4 classes)

3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Start with a color chart to train your eyes and hands to see variations in hue and to learn mixing. With your photographs or other pictures we will go over planning, design, lines and brushwork of the subject matter you choose. We'll look at different artist's techniques every week. Your color pallet and compositions are part of your personal style of painting. That's the ultimate goal to learn from others and to paint like yourself!

April Classes

"Experimenting with Color" (Painting)

April 19 & 20, 2012
April 26 & 27, 2012

Using exercises from Professor Betty Edwards' book "Color", participants will learn how to perceive subtle color changes in simple still life arrangements, and how to render them effectively with paint.

The Art of Portraiture takes the student beyond mere depiction of a subject, and into the artful realm of dynamic design, exciting color use and lively expression.

Students should bring to class all drawing and painting supplies of their choice, including colored pencils, pastels and paints.
